Today, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) visited the New Lebanon Junior/Senior High School to speak with New Lebanon Central School District Superintendent Andrew Kourt. "Superintendent Kourt as well the teachers and staff across the New Lebanon Central School District have worked tirelessly to provide safe and quality education to our young people during this crisis," said Rep. Delgado. "Help is here with $130 billion in K-12 American Rescue Plan funding. This relief will have a significant impact on the district and schools across upstate. I will keep working to deliver support to staff, teachers, and students."

"On behalf of the New Lebanon Central School District, I want to thank Congressman Delgado for taking the time to visit our school district and meet with me today," said Superintendent Kourt. "I appreciate our conversation in regards to New Lebanon's upcoming school budget and how COVID has impacted New Lebanon and other school districts in our region. We appreciate the donation of books from the Library of Congress, and we look forward to our collaboration in the future."

The American Rescue Plan delivers $170 billion for education and $45 billion for child care providers. This includes a $130 billion investment to help K-12 schools re-open and provide support to students who have fallen behind. Specifically, funding can be used for:

Reducing class sizes
Modifying spaces so that students and teachers can socially distance
Improving ventilation
Implementing more mitigation measures
Providing personal protective equipment
Providing summer school or other support for students that help make up lost learning time this year
