Congressman Baird Announces 2021 Congressional Art Competition

Congressman Jim Baird (IN-04) announced the 2021 Congressional Art Competition and encourages high school students throughout Indiana's 4th District to submit their artwork by April 16th.

"This is a great opportunity for students across the district to showcase their creativity and skills. We have so many talented students in our community and I look forward to seeing their artwork," Congressman Baird said.

The winner from the district will have their artwork displayed in the United States Capitol for one year and will receive two roundtrip airfare tickets for a reception in our nation's capital.

Student should submit one piece of art to the Danville District office (355 S. Washington St, Suite 210 Danville, IN 46122) by Friday, April 16, 2021. This year's theme will be Hoosier Heroes.

All entries MUST include the attached Student Information and Release Form for the competition.

Entries should be in one of the following mediums:

Paintings -- oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc.
Drawings -- pastels, pencil, colored pencil, charcoal, ink, markers (charcoal and pastel should be fixed)
Collages -- must be two dimensional
Prints -- lithographs, silkscreen, block prints
Computer-generated art
Photographs
Mixed Media -- use of two or more of the above mediums.
All entries must also meet the following criteria:

Be original in concept, design, and execution and may not violate any U.S. copyright laws
May not depict subjects of contemporary political controversy, be sensationalistic or gruesome in nature
Entered in the original medium (a scanned reproduction of a painting or drawing will not be accepted)
Be two-dimensional
Be framed when submitted
Be no larger than 26 inches by 26 inches by 4 inches, including the frame
Not weigh more than 15 pounds when framed
As the winning artwork will be on display in Washington D.C. for one full year, students should submit a piece that will not be needed for other purposes. All other entries will need to be picked up from the district office no later than April 24, 2020.
