Sarbanes, Maryland Congressional Delegation Announce More Than $5.5 Million to Support COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution

Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) today joined the Maryland Congressional Delegation in announcing $5,539,646 in emergency federal funding to boost COVID-19 vaccine rollout and management in Prince George's County and the City of Baltimore.

"Along with proper public health measures, getting shots in arms is our best way to slow the spread of COVID-19 and bring this pandemic to an end," the lawmakers said. "This emergency federal funding will support vaccine distribution, logistics and management efforts in Baltimore City and Prince George's County -- helping to reach large populations of Maryland residents who have been disproportionately impacted by the virus. Team Maryland will continue delivering resources to improve equitable access to the vaccine across our state."

The funding serves as a total federal cost-share reimbursement and comes from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), authorized under Section 403 of the Robert T. Stafford Act. It includes:

$2,820,290 to support vaccine distribution logistics and marketing support in Prince George's County; and

$2,719,356 to expand vaccine administration and support in Baltimore City.

The lawmakers previously announced more than $560 million in emergency federal funding from FEMA to help boost the state's response to the COVID-19 pandemic and aid its vaccine distribution efforts.
