Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02) released the following statement upon passage today of the Workplace Violence Prevention Against Health Care & Social Workers Act (H.R. 1195) today. It is legislation that would support the implementation of a simple, flexible, enforceable standard to ensure frontline workers are being protected against preventable incidents of violence in the workplace.

"Health care and social service workers face on-the-job violence at rates up to 12 times higher than our overall workforce. This is nothing short of an epidemic, and one that has only grown worse during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nurses, EMT's and social workers are just a few of the professions that experience this category of violence on the job. The Workplace Violence Prevention for Health Care and Social Service Workers Act would help provide safer workplaces for these employees and would drive down these preventable incidents. I am proud to cosponsor this bill."
