Congressman Al Green Supports Paycheck Fairness Act as Original Cosponsor

Statement

On Thursday, April 15, 2021, Congressman Al Green released the following statement in support of H.R. 7, the Paycheck Fairness Act, of which he serves as a proud original cosponsor:

"I proudly support the Paycheck Fairness Act as an original cosponsor," stated Congressman Al Green -- a consistent supporter of gender equity. "I became an original cosponsor of this bill thinking of women who collectively lose about $1 trillion a year due to the wage gap. I support it for every woman who has ever worked harder than a man but made less. I support it for mothers and daughters who only earn about 82 cents for every dollar a man makes. It's not enough for us to notice this significant disparity. We must do something about it."

Congressman Green added, "We honor the contributions of women across the globe during Women's History Month. We shower the women in our lives with love for Mother's Day. We must pass and enact the Paycheck Fairness Act to show that we value and respect women year-round."
