Malliotakis Introduces 'Where's Our Money Going Act'

Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) introduced H.R.3714, the 'Where's Our Money Going Act,' legislation that would require state and local governments that were the recipients of coronavirus relief to disclose to Congress how every dollar received in aid is being spent and make the information publicly available on a website. Failure to do so would prohibit further covid relief funding funds from being received, and require the return of federal money to the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

New York State governments are beginning to receive nearly $24 billion as part of President Biden and Speaker Pelosi's bloated and partisan COVID-19 relief bill, including $12.7 billion specifically designated for New York State and $4.3 billion for New York City.

"We all know that both Governor Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio are not good shepherds of our taxpayer money, and they've often spent money like drunken sailors," said Congresswoman Malliotakis. "We've heard how Governor Cuomo is using over $2 billion in federal aid to provide checks to those who are in our country illegally, and Mayor de Blasio has a history of squandering millions, including on the now-defunct "Renewal School" program and boondoggle Thrive NYC. We need more accountability and transparency, and that is why I've introduced this bill that would require them to disclose to Congress and the public where the funds they're receiving from Washington are actually going."
