Rice Secures Nearly $7.5 Million for NY-04 Projects in House Funding Bills

WASHINGTON -- Today, U.S. Representative Kathleen Rice (NY-04) voted in favor of H.R. 4502, a package of seven federal government funding bills. It passed the House of Representatives today by a vote of 219-208.

H.R. 4502 includes funding for nine "Community Project Funding" requests championed by Rice during the appropriations process. The projects, which total nearly $7.5 million for New York's Fourth Congressional District, are listed below:

· $2 million for streetscape improvements within the Uniondale commercial business district to enhance pedestrian safety. Request letter.

· $2 million for the Village of Hempstead Sewage Collection System improvements. Request letter.

· $1 million for rehabilitating the City of Long Beach drinking water sand filtration system. Request letter.

· $1 million for the additional construction of The Hempstead Health Center. Request letter.

· $700,000 in funding for United Way of Long Island's YouthBuild pre-apprenticeship program. Request letter.

· $400,000 for the creation of an Early Childhood Learning Center and to improve services already offered at the Long Beach West End Community Center. Request letter.

· $149,993.50 to supplement PFY's (formerly "Pride for Youth") current LGBTQ Health and Human Services program. Request letter.

· $116,450 for The Corporate Source's Information Technology Training & Certification Program for individuals with disabilities. Request letter.

· $100,000 in funding for the P.E.A.C.E. Afterschool Program in Hempstead. Request letter.

"The government funding bills that we passed in the House today are critical investments to help our nation recover from one of the worst public health crises in history," said Rep. Kathleen Rice. "And I'm particularly proud these investments include nearly $7.5 million that I helped secure specifically for infrastructure, education, and other community projects at home in Nassau County. Fighting to secure federal resources for Long Islanders remains my top priority as Congress continues working to implement President Biden's Build Back Better agenda."

In total, H.R. 4502 contains seven government funding bills:

· $253.8 billion for Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies.

· $26.5 billion for Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies.

· $53.2 billion for Energy and Water Development, and Related Agencies.

· $29.1 billion for Financial Services and General Government.

· $43.4 billion for Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies.

· $279.9 billion for Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies.

· $84.1 billion for Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies.

With passage of H.R. 4502 today in the House, the package must next be considered by the Senate before it can be sent to the President to be signed into law.
