Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA), the top Republican on the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Border Security, issued the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected the Biden administration's attempt to end President Trump's Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) also known as the Remain in Mexico policy. The policy requires asylum seekers at the southwest border to remain in Mexico while they await judicial hearings to determine their eligibility and status.

"This ruling is a win for border security. The Remain in Mexico policy is a critical tool for law enforcement and will help restore operational control at the southwest border. MPP ends the incentive of making fraudulent asylum claims and prevents migrants from disappearing into the U.S. without showing up for their court hearings. The current border crisis is the worst in our nation's history. Far more needs to be done to secure the border. This judicial victory is a step in the right direction."
