Concord, N.H. -- Today, Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02) released the following statement ahead of the 20th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks:

"Twenty years ago, our nation was shocked and saddened by the despicable terrorist attacks that took place at the World Trade Center in New York, at the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. We will never forget the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the injured, and those who risked everything to help others in their greatest time of need.

"Today, we reflect on those we lost, but also the bravery and incredible acts of courage displayed by countless Americans on that dark day. America was forever changed on 9/11, and this tragic anniversary is especially painful for the families who lost loved ones, the first responders who still live with the health effects of their heroic actions, and the brave men and women who answered the call of duty to keep America safe in the wake of the attacks -- as well as the families of thousands who made the ultimate sacrifice.

"We will never forget, and we will continue to stand against terrorism, both foreign and domestic. On this solemn anniversary, I encourage all to take time to honor and remember all that was lost, but also to reflect on the resiliency of our great nation and patriotic spirit that unites us as Americans."
