Location: Washington, DC

Washington, DC -- Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) announced her support of a bipartisan resolution to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, which took the lives of 2,977 people and injured many thousands more.

"My heart is heavy as we approach this solemn anniversary. We continue to mourn the loss of so many Americans, whose families continue to carry on their legacies. We also remember the brave first responders who answered the call to serve on that fateful day, one of our Nation's darkest. May we always remember their courage and resolve in the face of such a heinous act of terror. I am honored to join my colleagues in introducing this bipartisan resolution to honor the memories and legacies of those lost."

Last month, Congresswoman Tenney cosponsored the 9/11 Responder and Survivor Health Funding Correction Act. This bipartisan bill addresses funding shortfalls in the World Trade Center Health Program (WTCHP) to make absolutely certain that funding for the program is provided well into the future. Without this legislation, the program risks running out of funds in the coming years. The bill would also permit the WTCHP to conduct research on the impacts of toxic exposure and psychological trauma on the thousands of then-children who attended school or daycare in the New York City disaster area following the attacks. This bipartisan bill was introduced by Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney and has the support of more than 35 Members of Congress. A companion to the bill has also been introduced in the Senate led by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.
