Today, Representative Lois Frankel (FL-21) issued the following statement after Florida's newly appointed Surgeon General, Dr. Joseph Ladapo, issued an emergency rule that undermines the ability for school districts to keep students safe from COVID-19 by allowing parents to decide whether children attend school after being exposed to people who have COVID-19, and opt out of mask mandates at their sole discretion.

"This decision will allow one parent to jeopardize the health and safety of not only their child, but everyone their child comes into contact with at school," said Rep. Frankel. "Mask requirements and quarantining when exposed to COVID-19 keep children, teachers, staff, and their families safe. The Surgeon General's new rule is dangerous."
