Armstrong Statement on Lifting of US-Canada Border Restrictions

Statement

Date: Oct. 13, 2021
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Trade

Congressman Kelly Armstrong (R-ND) released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that the border restrictions on Canadians entering the U.S. through land and ferry ports of entry for non-essential reasons will be lifted in November for individuals who are fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

"This announcement is long overdue and welcome news for the thousands of North Dakotans and small business owners who rely on trade across our northern border. I have repeatedly shared with the Biden administration why the border closure is devastating for North Dakotans, and I will continue to work with Governor Burgum and Senators Hoeven and Cramer to make sure these restrictions are fully lifted," said Congressman Armstrong.
