CURTIS RURAL BROADBAND BILL DISCUSSED IN HOUSE ENERGY & COMMERCE COMMITTEE

Statement

Date: Oct. 7, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

Yesterday, the House Energy & Commerce Communications and Telecommunications Subcommittee discussed Representative John Curtis' Federal Broadband Deployment in Unserved Areas Act in a key legislative hearing. The bill would streamline broadband deployment in unserved areas and significantly enhance efforts to close the digital divide.

"I frequently hear from constituents about how much of a barrier the federal government is to rural communities gaining internet access," said Rep. Curtis. "The legislation I have introduced helps providers gain access to the resources they need to deploy broadband more efficiently across rural Utah by promoting information sharing between federal agencies. I look forward to working with my colleagues to pass this sensible, fiscally responsible bill into law.
