Rep. LaTurner Backs Bipartisan NDAA

Statement

Date: Dec. 8, 2021
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Defense

Last night, Congressman Jake LaTurner voted in support of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for FY 2022. He issued the following statement:

"Last night, I voted YES on National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

The FY2022 NDAA equips our military with the resources they need to keep themselves and the American people safe. This legislation reverses President Biden's reckless cuts to our national security, restoring funding for shipbuilding, procurement, and missile defense, while also giving our troops a well-deserved pay raise. Under this legislation, our armed forces will have the appropriate tools to deter and defeat our adversaries at a time when Russia and China continue to threaten our national security.

After working with my colleagues in the House and Senate, I am pleased that the red flag law provision was removed from the final version of this NDAA. This bill also ensures that the men and women of our military will not be dishonorably discharged if they do not wish to take the COVID-19 vaccine or be punished for political statements on social media accounts.

This legislation takes the necessary steps to advance our military readiness, defend our interests at home and abroad, and protect our brave servicemen and women."
