Kaptur Statement on House Passage of Build Back Better Act

Statement

Date: Nov. 19, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) released the following statement after the House passed President Joe Biden's Build Back Better Act. The House-passed legislation -- which includes Rep. Kaptur's Great Lakes heavy icebreaker, and the Community Restoration and Revitalization Fund modeled after her Restoring Communities Left Behind Act -- now moves to the Senate for consideration.

"The Build Back Better Act is one of the most consequential pieces of legislation that has ever made its way through the halls of Congress," said Rep. Kaptur. "Over the decades, we have watched as the rich get richer only for America's physical and social infrastructure to suffer death by a thousand cuts. The Build Back Better Act sets America on a new course by lowering the cost of healthcare, child care, and senior care, improving education and infrastructure, and creating good-paying jobs in every sector and community in our nation. By requiring the wealthiest to pay their fair share, we will be able to properly invest in America's children, workers, families, and seniors -- all without raising taxes on anyone making less than $400,000 a year. The Build Back Better Act will restore the Middle Class that has built up this nation, and guide America to a better future."
