KILDEE VOTES TO KEEP GOVERNMENT OPEN, AVOID HARMFUL GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN

Statement

Date: Dec. 2, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05), Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, today voted in support of a short-term spending bill--commonly referred to as a continuing resolution--to keep the government open and avoid a shutdown, which would hurt Michigan families, cost taxpayers billions of dollars and jeopardize the federal government's response to the ongoing pandemic.

"A government shutdown would hurt Michigan families, small businesses and seniors. It would cost our economy billions of dollars, make federal workers like FBI agents work without pay, and slow down the federal government's response to the ongoing pandemic. While I am disappointed that my Republican colleagues have so far not been serious about passing long-term appropriations bills, I am glad that Congress has acted to avert a government shutdown."
