Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Taxes

Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05), Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, today announced that he has delivered over $190 million in tax cuts to more than 68,000 middle class families with children throughout the Fifth Congressional District, according to new estimates from the Joint Economic Committee.

Supported by Congressman Kildee, the American Rescue Plan cut taxes for middle class families with children by expanding the Child Tax Credit. This tax cut provides up to $300 a month for families with children ages 0 to 5 and $250 per month for families with children ages 6 to 17. Congressman Kildee recently voted to pass the Build Back Better Act to make the Child Tax Credit tax cut permanent.

"I am focused on cutting taxes and lowering costs for Michigan's working families. As big corporations have taken advantage of the pandemic to raise prices and squeeze consumers, the Child Tax Credit is putting money back in the pockets of hardworking people to help lower everyday costs such as rent, groceries and school supplies," said Congressman Kildee.
