Owens Statement on Democrats' Socialist Tax and Spending Bill

Today, Rep. Burgess Owens (UT-04) released the following statement on his vote against the Democrats' reckless and irresponsible tax and spending bill:

"The Biden Administration and Congressional Democrats' $5,000,000,000,000 scam will cripple families in Utah and across the country who are struggling to make ends meet.

"America currently sits on $28 trillion in debt, inflation is at a three-decade high, and consumer prices are surging at the fastest rate since 1990. Instead of easing these burdens and leading our country through an economic crisis, this far-left kitchen sink package uses budgetary gimmicks and sunsets to spend what we do not have on programs that we do not need.

"For months, the President tried to hide the true cost of his cradle-to-grave socialist bill, falsely claiming it would cost taxpayers zero dollars. Just yesterday, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office delivered a blistering score: this spending spree will increase the deficit by $367 billion. Unfortunately, generations of Utahns will bear the brunt of today's vote and this fiscally negligent spending."
