Womack Statement on H.R. 5746

Statement

Date: Jan. 13, 2022
Location: Washington, DC

January 13, 2022....Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) released the below statement after voting against H.R. 5746, the House Democrats' latest proposal to institute a federal takeover of elections, give more power to unelected career bureaucrats, and erode states' rights:

"Desperation. That is what describes today's Democrat attempt to centralize election control in the hands of the federal government and unelected bureaucrats. Measures so radical they had to insert them into a wholly unrelated NASA bill. The majority has learned that if you can't win on your merits, then change the rules of the game. No real hearings. No debate. No standalone bill. That's what you need to know about legislation set to bankroll the political campaigns of Speaker Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, eliminate fraud prevention statutes, and disregard state laws in Arkansas and across the country. Unsurprising coming from a party actively moving to grant foreign nationals the ability to vote in U.S. elections. The only things being suppressed are the bedrock principles of our constitutional republic."
