Houlahan Departs for Ukraine with Bipartisan Congressional Delegation Amid Rising Tensions with Russia

Today, Representative Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA), member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee (HFAC), departed for a congressional delegation to Brussels, Belgium and Kyiv, Ukraine. The bipartisan delegation includes Chairman Gregory W. Meeks (D-NY), David Cicilline (D-RI), Ami Bera (D-CA), Colin Allred (D-TX), Tom Malinowski (D-NJ), Sara Jacobs (D-CA), Mark Green (R-TN), August Pfluger (R-TX), Mikie Sherill (D-NJ), and Victoria Spartz (R-IN).

"As a member of both the House Foreign Affairs and Armed Services Committees, it is my responsibility to conduct oversight on matters of national security," said Houlahan. "This trip will enable the Congress to strengthen relationships with our allies--I look forward to the valuable insight meeting with senior Ukrainian officials will provide."

In Brussels, the delegation will meet with representatives from NATO, the EU, and NATO and EU member states to discuss the security situation in Eastern Europe and the buildup of Russian troops along Ukraine's border and in Belarus.

In Kyiv, the delegation will meet with senior Ukrainian officials to discuss the security situation and reinforce U.S. support for Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Houlahan is an Air Force veteran, an engineer, a serial entrepreneur, an educator and a nonprofit leader. She represents Pennsylvania's 6th Congressional District, which encompasses Chester County and southern Berks County. She serves on the House Armed Services Committee, the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Small Business Committee. She is the recipient of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Abraham Lincoln Leadership for America Award which "recognizes members who demonstrate the bipartisan leadership and constructive governing necessary to move our country forward."
