Fischer Opposes Biden's Nominee for Border Patrol Commissioner

Statement

Date: Dec. 7, 2021
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Immigration

U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) released the following statement today after voting against the nomination of Chris Magnus to serve as Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP):

"We need to secure our southern border. I've been deeply disappointed in the Biden administration's repeated denial about the influx of migrants coming into this country illegally. During his confirmation hearing, Mr. Magnus deflected and refused to describe what's going on at the border as a crisis. Given his leftist views on immigration and his support of open border policies, I cannot support his nomination."
