Senator Reverend Warnock Applauds the Historic Nomination of Dr. Lisa Cook to the Federal Reserve Board

Statement

Today, U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) announced his support for Dr. Lisa Cook's nomination to the Federal Reserve's Board of Governors. Dr. Cook is the first Black woman and HBCU graduate to be nominated to the Federal Reserve Board.

"I'm proud to support the nomination of Dr. Lisa Cook, a fellow Georgian and graduate of Spelman College, to the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. I'm confident that Dr. Cook, who is highly regarded by academics and policymakers alike, will utilize her decades of experience to guide Georgia and the country through this challenging economic period and help build a more equitable financial regulatory system. As a child, Dr. Cook was one of the first Black children to integrate her public school and has since spent a lifetime breaking racial and gender barriers. Today, she becomes the first Black woman and the first HBCU graduate nominated to the Federal Reserve Board, a truly momentous and long-overdue milestone. I look forward to working with Dr. Cook to support Georgia's workers and small businesses as we continue to recover from the economic burdens of the pandemic."
