Manchin, Capito Announce USDA Rural Development Loans, Grants

U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), both members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $749,250 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Rural Development Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 Awards program.

"Investing in West Virginia's rural communities creates good-paying jobs and spurs economic growth in the region and across the state. I am pleased USDA is investing in Randolph and Wood counties to improve their water infrastructure and expand our energy production, and I look forward to seeing the positive impacts of these projects for the communities," Senator Manchin said. "As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for funding that supports rural communities and our economy."

"West Virginia residents rely on support for these projects to improve and strengthen the places in which they live, and I'll continue working to secure needed resources like the funding announced today."

Individual awards listed below:
$363,000 (Grant) -- Norton Harding Jimtown Public Service District (Randolph County): This investment will be used to extend and upgrade a gravity collection sewer system and pump stations along State Route 151 in and around Norton, W.Va.
$233,250 (Grant) / $150,000 (Loan) -- Solar Energy Solutions, LLC (Wood County): This investment will be used to purchase and install a 500 kilowatt solar array.
