Today, Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01), a member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, helped the House to pass the EVEST Act, which will automatically enroll eligible servicemembers in VA health care during the transition process.

"Automatically enrolling all our veterans in VA health care when they transition out of the military is a long overdue and common sense step we can take to serve those who have put their lives on the line for our country," said Congressman Pappas. "This change will improve veterans' access to health care, reduce veteran suicide by ensuring their mental health needs are met, and help all our veterans succeed following their military career. I'm pleased the House passed this bipartisan bill today, which would result in more than 50,000 veterans being enrolled in the first year alone, and urge the Senate to quickly take up this legislation."
