Correa Urges Protection for Our Veterans from Hazardous Exposure

Today, Rep. Lou Correa (D-CA) released the following statement after voting in favor for the passage of the Honoring Our Pact Act. This comprehensive legislation will address hazardous military exposure as a cost of war. It would also give veterans who have been exposed to burn pits, radiation from atomic testing or polluted water on military stations access to VA health care and benefits:

"Our veterans fought to protect our country and when they come back home it is our responsibility to ensure they have the resources, care and benefits they have earned. Over the past week, we have heard multiple stories of veterans who returned home from war and developed health conditions due to toxic exposure during their military service. After being exposed to harmful toxins, our veterans should not have to wait years to prove they need their benefits. Today, I voted to pass the Honoring Our Pact Act, a comprehensive solution that would give relief and assistance to millions of veterans who have been exposed in the past, present, and future. I will continue to work in Congress to ensure that our veterans are provided with the benefits they need."
