Rep. Delgado Honors Veteran in Rensselaer County Ceremony

Today, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) joined the Rensselaer County Honor-A-Deceased Veteran Ceremony to recognize and reflect upon the life of Mr. Richard Paul Jansson. Congressman Delgado spoke at the ceremony and presented Mr. Jansson's family with a letter of recognition and flag. Local veterans and government officials gathered with Mr. Jansson's family to celebrate his life. Recognition was made not only to Mr. Jansson's military career and accomplishments, but also to his civilian life.

"I was humbled by the opportunity to join the Rensselaer County Honor-A-Deceased Veteran Ceremony this morning to honor the life of Richard Paul Jansson," said Rep. Delgado. "Mr. Jansson proudly served our country as a member of the United States Navy. The bravery and dedication it takes to serve should never go overlooked. We are forever indebted to Mr. Jansson and every other servicemember and veteran who sacrifice so much to keep us safe and protect our freedoms."

Richard Paul Jansson, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2020. Born in Yonkers, NY on July 23, 1936, he was the son of the late Sven and Violet Jansson. He grew up in Averill Park, NY and enlisted in the Navy to bravely serve our country. Richard enjoyed skeet shooting, hunting, and bowling. He also worked as a firefighter for Electric Boat for many years.
