Statement

Date: April 8, 2022
Location: Washington, DC

Today, U.S. Congresswoman and Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Chair Joyce Beatty (OH-03) joined President Biden, Vice President Harris, her Congressional Black Caucus colleagues, and other distinguished guests at a White House celebration in honor of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson. Confirmed by the Senate yesterday, Judge Jackson will be the first Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court when she takes the bench later this year.

"Judge Jackson's historic, bipartisan confirmation shows us there's hope that other Black women and minorities will be able to follow in her footsteps," said Beatty. "She's tearing down those glass ceilings which seemed impossible to reach just a few years ago."
