Bishop Votes Against Democrats' Radical Price Control Bill

Press Release

Date: May 19, 2022
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Rep. Dan Bishop (NC-09) voted against H.R. 7688, the so-called Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Prevention Act, as this bill is a misguided effort that fails to combat President Biden's inflation crisis:

"President Biden and Congressional Democrats have had more than a year to respond to skyrocketing inflation, but they ignored it. Bidenflation has crushed America's working class, and Democrats now want to respond with an unserious effort to enforce price controls. This bill is also filled with Green New Deal radicalism but will only make the Biden energy crisis even worse. Americans are facing record high gas prices and the worst inflation in 40 years. The solution to this is not excessive price controls and intimidating businesses, but by getting America's fiscal house in order and unleashing domestic energy capabilities. Democrats as usual seem unable to grasp simple concepts to fix the crises they've caused." -- Rep. Dan Bishop

The Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Prevention Act will increase President Biden's price-control power, a staple policy of socialist countries like Venezuela, Soviet Russia, and Cuba. The only solution to rising inflation is to unleash America's domestic energy supply and stop punishing American businesses and energy producers. This bill is another example of Congressional Democrats' total disconnect from reality and their continued faith in Green New Deal agenda.
