Congresswoman Stansbury Statement on Senate Vote to Codify Roe v. Wade

Statement

Issues: Abortion

After the Senate failed to vote to codify Roe v. Wade into law through the Women's Health Protection Act, U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury (N.M.-01) issued the following statement:

"Reproductive justice is on the line. We must act to protect our rights. Today's failed vote in the Senate to pass the Women's Health Protection Act is a call to action. The draft Supreme Court opinion leaked last week threatens to undermine the basic human rights, health, and safety of women and communities across the United States. The rollback of federal protections will impact those who are already hardest hit, including low-income families and communities of color. While I am grateful that Senate leadership called this important vote, it is clear that we have work to do, in the halls of Congress and at the ballot box."
