Issues: Oil and Gas

Today, U.S. Representative Jerry Carl (R-AL) issued the following statement regarding his vote to ban Russian oil and gas imports to the United States.

I support the decision to ban Russian oil and gas imports into the U.S., but we can and should fill the gap in the market with American energy rather than relying on dictators and terrorist groups to meet our needs.

The United States is the world's energy superpower, and we have enough energy supply to meet demand at home and abroad. Unfortunately, despite what he has been telling the American people, President Biden has been at war with American energy production since day one in office. As a result, we are importing dirty foreign oil instead of using our own resources.

Biden's anti-American energy policies have endangered our national security and contributed to huge increases in energy costs months before Russia invaded Ukraine. The first thing Biden should do to get prices under control is get government out of the way so American energy companies can produce the oil and natural gas we need here at home.

He should immediately end the moratorium for oil and gas leasing on federal lands and waters, restart the Keystone XL pipeline, and expedite approval for natural gas pipelines and liquified natural gas export facilities. We must unleash American energy NOW!
