Statement

Date: Feb. 24, 2022
Location: Washington, DC

House Appropriations Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today announced that Rebecca Salay will serve as her Chief of Staff following the departure of Liz Albertine after 12 years of service. Salay most recently served as professional staff on the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Appropriations Subcommittee. Salay previously worked in DeLauro's office for more than nine years, rising from an internship in her New Haven office to her Legislative Director.

"Becky and I have a long history of success working together, and I am lucky to have her as my Chief of Staff," said Congresswoman DeLauro. "She has a wealth of knowledge and experience on and off Capitol Hill that make her extraordinarily qualified to lead our team. Raised in Connecticut, Becky knows the issues facing the Third District's families. As I continue my work to strengthen our economy and ensure government looks out for the middle class and those who work hard, I know Becky will be a strong leader and a great benefit to the entire operation. While I will miss working with Liz, who has been like family for more than a decade, I look forward to the journey ahead."

"I am thrilled to be returning to serve Chair DeLauro as her Chief of Staff," said Rebecca Salay. "I started my career working for Rosa, and she has been a role model for me over the years. I grew up in Connecticut and know firsthand that no one works harder than she does to make progress for the Third District's families. I look forward to leading her stellar team and continuing the work to improve the lives of children and working families across the United States."

Salay also served as Director of Government Relations for Trust for America's Health and as Associate Director of Government Affairs for the Center for American Progress. She has a BA in Political Science from Drew University and an MSc in International Health Policy from the London School of Economics.
