Saturday morning, U.S. Congressman Matt Gaetz (FL-01) announced the winners of the 2022 Congressional Art Competition for Florida's First District at Artel Gallery in Pensacola.
Each spring, a nationwide high school arts competition is sponsored by members of the U.S. House of Representatives. High school students from across Florida's First Congressional District submitted their artwork for the competition, and a panel of local art professionals judged the pieces. The winning artwork will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington will also include artwork from participating districts across the country.
The winners of the 2022 Congressional Art Competition are listed below:
1st Place Winner: Jason Creef, Booker T. Washington High School
2nd Place Winner: Elly Diaz, Pace High School
3rd Place Winner: Aaron Waters, Pace High School
1st Place Runner Up: Evelyn Mosley, Rocky Bayou Christian School
2nd Place Runner Up: Elizabeth Plauche, Rocky Bayou Christian School
3rd Place Runner Up: Coral Pyritz, Pace High School
4th Place Runner Up: Alexandra Cherif, Destin High School
5th Place Runner Up: Kaydee Cook, Tate High School
