Today, U.S. Representative Susan Wild sent a letter to members of the Conference Committee for the America COMPETES Act, imploring conferees to include her bill language strengthening supply chain resilience, incentivizing regional innovation, and securing and promoting international research partnerships in the final text of the legislation.

"As my constituents and communities across the United States continue to deal with the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and inflation, prioritizing supply chain security and resilience, supporting regional innovation, and strengthening international research security are vital to our nation's long-term economic recovery, security, and competitiveness," Rep. Wild wrote. "Together, these priorities will lower costs for Americans, increase access to good jobs, and strengthen domestic businesses and manufacturing."

The America COMPETES Act makes historic investments to surge domestic manufacturing, bolster America's scientific research and technological leadership, and strengthen our economic and national security at home and abroad.

The legislation passed the House of Representatives on February 4, 2022, following Senate action on the U.S. Innovation and Competition Act. Now, the two chambers must reconcile their differences in the Conference Committee before the final legislation can be passed by both chambers and signed into law by the President.
