Fischer Announces $127,005 STEM Grant for Little Priest Tribal College

U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), a member of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, announced that Little Priest Tribal College in Winnebago will receive a $127,005 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). The grant will help address the impacts of the pandemic on Little Priest Tribal College's science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) learning opportunities for students.

"Tribal Colleges across the country were particularly hurt by drops in enrollment due to the pandemic. This NSF grant will provide Little Priest TribalCollege with the resources it needs to maintain its critical STEM programs. It will also ensure the college can train future generations of Nebraskans to pursue careers in medicine, information technology, and other high-tech industries," said Senator Fischer.

"COVID-19 had a debilitating effect on TCU's including Little Priest Tribal College. The pandemic has been specifically tough on our STEM students and faculty. I am grateful to NSF for providing this timely support to continue building our STEM programs," said Little Priest Tribal College President Manoj Patil.
