Pressley Applauds House Passage of Resolution to Recognize Congressional Workers' Right to Organize

Statement

Today, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) issued the following statement on the passage of the Recognizing Congressional Workers' Right to Organize resolution:

"Today marks a historic day for Congressional House staff -- a day where their fundamental right to organize and bargain collectively has been protected and codified in House policy. From Capitol Hill to Beacon Hill, every worker deserves fundamental workers' rights including a living wage and essential benefits, a sustainable and healthy work environment, and the right to organize.

"Decades ago, the Office of Compliance and Workplace Rights ruled that passage of this resolution was the final step to give Congressional staffers legal protection to organize and bargain collectively, and I am encouraged that Congress is finally taking that step.

"As a former Hill staffer, I was proud to vote yes. I am grateful to the staffers who have driven this effort and to Congressman Levin for his leadership and partnership."

In February, Rep. Pressley joined Congressman Andy Levin (MI-09) and 129 House colleagues in introducing the Recognizing Congressional Workers' Right to Organize resolution.
