Pelosi Statement on Confirmation of Jaime Lizárraga as SEC Commissioner

Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued this statement after the Senate unanimously confirmed Jaime Lizárraga, who currently serves as Senior Advisor in the Office of the Speaker, to serve as a Commissioner at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC):

"The unanimous confirmation of Jaime Lizárraga to serve as SEC Commissioner is a momentous victory for working families and the country.

"In my office, Jaime has been instrumental in enacting once-in-a-generation economic legislation: helping rescue the economy after the 2008 financial meltdown, strengthening oversight of our financial system in the Dodd-Frank Act, negotiating multiple COVID relief packages, and many more. As Commissioner, he will bring this deep expertise to fulfill the SEC's congressional mandate to protect investors, promote fair and transparent markets, and facilitate capital formation. Guided by his commitment to building a more equitable financial future for all, he is the model of an outstanding and patriotic public servant, who has served our nation for his entire professional career.
