House Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property and the Internet Chairman Hank Johnson (GA-04) today issued the following statement after President Biden unveiled a comprehensive plan to expand opportunities for formerly incarcerated persons:

"As a former defense attorney, judge and criminal justice reform champion as Congressman for Georgia's Fourth District, I appreciate the Biden-Harris Administration's comprehensive plan to offer meaningful opportunities for redemption and rehabilitation to empower those who have been incarcerated to become productive, law-abiding, members of society, and reduce crime and make our communities safer. I look forward to working with the administration to continue my local efforts to help break the cycle of recidivism and poverty and help make those who have been previously incarcerated more productive, healthy citizens. I applaud the President for commuting the sentences of so many Georgians and many more nationwide."
