Rep. Calvert Statement on Ukraine Supplemental

Statement

Date: May 10, 2022
Issues: Foreign Aid

Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-42) issued the following statement after voting with a bipartisan majority of the House of Representatives (368 to 57) to approve the Additional Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Act:

"The United States must continue to support the people of Ukraine in their valiant defense of liberty and independence with both military and humanitarian aid. If Putin is successful in Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the death and destruction will not stop there. The coalition of democracies must continue to join together in blocking Putin's dream of reuniting the old Soviet Empire.

The bill passed by the House today also includes funding to refill stockpiles of equipment, munitions and weapons that are critical to America's national security and our allies. Funding is also included to support U.S. national security forces involved with training Ukrainian military personnel and assisting our European allies. Thanks to the resolve of Republicans in the House and Senate, unrelated and unnecessary funding being pushed by Congressional Democrats was not included in the supplemental."
