Senator Reverend Warnock Helps Pass Legislation to Prevent Georgia Children From Going Hungry Over the Summer

Today, U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) applauded last week's Senate passage of bipartisan legislation he pushed to extend critical COVID-era school meal flexibilities that will continue to prevent Georgia children from going hungry during the summer and throughout the school year. The passage of the Keep Kids Fed Act comes just one week before waivers were set to expire, imposing cumbersome restrictions on parents just as summer break kicks off.

"I was happy to see the Senate come together to address food insecurity and pass the Keep Kids Fed Act, ensuring that vulnerable children in Georgia have access to school meals," said Senator Reverend Warnock. "I was proud to join my colleagues in passing this critical bill and I'm going to continue to push to strengthen child nutrition programs."

As a member of the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee, Senator Warnock has been a vocal advocate for ensuing that Georgia children have continuous access to healthy meals: earlier this month, he joined his Senate colleagues in a push to extend child nutrition waivers ahead of their expiration and enact a robust set of child nutrition priorities in any upcoming legislative vehicles.
