This week, Congresswoman Frederica Wilson (FL-24) voted for legislation appropriating more than $40 billion in additional assistance for Ukraine's fight for democracy. Introduced with bipartisan and bicameral support, this emergency funding will be pivotal in Ukraine's fight, helping to deliver critically needed resources, including military aid, support for the Ukrainian economy and humanitarian assistance to address the worldwide hunger crisis stemming from Russia's invasion.

"The Ukrainian people need our help. I am proud to vote for this robust and bipartisan aid package to provide continued support and deliver on our promise to the Ukrainian government," said Congresswoman Wilson. "Not only does this funding provide military and badly needed humanitarian assistance, but it also sends a message that our country will not stand for senseless attacks on the innocent lives of vulnerable civilians. We're proud to stand with President Biden and our allies to support Ukraine's effort to put an end to this unprovoked Russian invasion."

As Putin desperately escalates his senseless aggression, Ukraine faces dire security, economic and humanitarian needs. The Additional Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Act will deliver a wide range of resources to assist the Ukrainian people, including:

* $6 billion to deliver weapons and security assistance to the Ukrainian military
* $3.9 billion to bolster U.S. military operations in Europe
* $8.7 billion to deliver economic aid and fund government services across Ukraine
* $5 billion to provide food assistance in Ukraine and around the world
* $900 million to support families fleeing from Ukraine

The vote follows the enactment of the Ukraine Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act, which is streamlining the shipment of weapons systems, ammunition, and other equipment to Ukraine.

On a strongly bipartisan basis, the Congress has also taken several key steps to punish and isolate Russia, including the suspension of permanent normal trade relations, the reauthorization of the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act and a ban on the import of Russian oil and energy products. Additionally, the House has advanced the Asset Seizure for Ukraine Reconstruction Act and the Ukraine War Crimes Act.
