Lesko Statement Following House Passage of Gun Legislation

Today, U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) released the following statement in response to the U.S. House of Representatives' passage of gun control legislation:

"It is imperative that we reduce violence without taking away law abiding citizens' constitutional rights. Keeping our children safe in schools is a bipartisan priority. That is why this week, I supported bipartisan legislation, H.R. 7666, that provides increased funding for mental health and suicide prevention in our schools and local communities. It is also the reason why I cosponsored H.R. 7966, the Secure Every School and Protect our Nation's Children Act, which provides funds to schools for more resource officers, mental health counselors, and school security.

Today, however, I voted against the Democrats' gun control bill that strips law abiding Americans of their due process and Second Amendment rights. If we truly want to make our schools safe, we need to treat the cause, not take away Americans' constitutional rights."
