Rep. Duncan Releases Statement on the U.S. Entering a Recession

Press Release

Date: July 28, 2022
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Jeff Duncan issued the following statement on the U.S. economy shrinking at a 0.9% annual rate last quarter for the second straight quarterly decline in GDP (Gross Domestic Product), meeting the standard for a recession:

"Democrats may try to change the definition of "recession,' but that does nothing to change the dire reality Americans are facing financially and the fact that the economy has declined in the past two quarters," said Congressman Jeff Duncan. "GDP has shrunk for the second consecutive quarter, and the American economy now meets the generally accepted standards for a recession. Americans are struggling with surging inflation and energy costs, and it is imperative we rein in the reckless government spending and America-last policies that cause our economy to recede."
