Rep. Stevens Votes to Lower Health Care and Energy Costs for Working Families

Today, Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) voted for the Inflation Reduction Act. This legislation will save the average American household hundreds of dollars in health and energy costs while tackling climate change, reducing the deficit and creating millions of good-paying jobs.

"Today, I proudly voted for the Inflation Reduction Act - historic legislation that lowers energy costs, out-of-pocket costs of prescription drugs, combats climate change, tackles the deficit, and generates millions of good-paying jobs - fully paid for by finally making big corporations pay their fair share in taxes. The Inflation Reduction Act will offer Michigan families much-needed relief, and I am thrilled to see this legislation headed to President Biden's desk for signature."

The Inflation Reduction Act:

Lowers the cost of health care by allowing Medicare to negotiate lower prices for prescription drugs, capping premiums at 8.5%, and extending ACA subsidies for millions of Americans.
Cuts energy costs and strengthens America's energy security, while combating the climate crisis by reducing carbon pollution by 40 percent by 2030.
Reduces the federal deficit by closing loopholes to make big corporations pay their fair share and strengthening IRS enforcement so billionaires and big corporations cannot cheat on their taxes.

A bipartisan group of 126 top economists all agree: "these investments will fight inflation and lower costs for American families while setting the stage for strong, stable, and broadly-shared long-term economic growth."
