Press Release

Date: Nov. 20, 2022
Location: East Hartford, CT

Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement after a gunman killed five people and injured 25 at an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs:

"My heart breaks to hear of the cruel and hateful attack at Club Q on the night before Transgender Day of Remembrance," said Larson. "I am grateful to the heroes who put their lives on the line to stop the gunman and the first responders who promptly arrived at the scene. I stand with the people of Colorado Springs and LGBTQ Americans across this nation to say hate and violence have no home here in America."

"Our actions must match our words," Larson continued. "With mass shootings averaging more than one per day this past year, all our leaders must have the courage to act. Gun violence is on the rise. Hateful attacks against the LGBTQ community are on the rise. Enough is enough. I proudly stood with my House colleagues to pass common-sense gun laws, and I urge the Senate to vote."
