Today, Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-Del.) voted to pass the Inflation Reduction Act - a bill that lowers the price of prescription drugs for seniors, closes tax loopholes exploited by the wealthiest corporations, and makes the most significant investment ever in tackling the climate crisis - all while paying down the federal deficit.

Provisions authored by Blunt Rochester aimed at fenceline air monitoring and climate-smart and pro-growth investments in ports, such as the Port of Wilmington, were also passed as part of the Inflation Reduction Act. Blunt Rochester's provisions will help create good-paying union jobs at ports across the country, all while reducing the impacts of air pollution in our near-port communities.

"The Inflation Reduction Act is a truly landmark piece of legislation that will lower drug prices for seniors, bring down energy costs, close tax loopholes exploited by the nation's wealthiest corporations, and make the single most significant investment in history to tackle the climate crisis and spur economic growth," Rep. Blunt Rochester said. "We're doing all of these things in a fiscally responsible way while using additional revenue to pay down the federal deficit. In a session of Congress that has seen us pass an American Rescue Plan to recover in the wake of COVID, pass the historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to rebuild our nation's roads, bridges, and broadband, pass the first significant bipartisan gun safety legislation in 30 years, pass the bipartisan CHIPS Act to bring critical manufacturing back to the United States, and pass the bipartisan PACT Act to fulfill our sacred obligation to care for our veterans - the Inflation Reduction Act represents the capstone of our work to improve the lives of the American people."
