Today, Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-04) released the following statement after voting in support of H.R. 5, the Parents Bill of Rights Act.

"This is a great day for parents, students, and education," said Congressman Bill Huizenga. "In order for students to reach their full potential, parents must have a seat at the table. The Parents Bill of Rights Act empowers parents and legal guardians to work with school officials to achieve the best outcome possible for their children."

Congressman Huizenga helped introduce the Parents Bill of Rights Act on March 1st and is a cosponsor of this legislation. The Parents Bill of Rights Act is built on five commonsense pillars to ensure parents have a voice in their children's education.

Parents have the right to know what their children are being taught
Parents have the right to be heard
Parents have the right to see a school's budget and spending
Parents have the right to protect their child's privacy
Parents have the right to be updated on any violent activity at school
