“I am deeply concerned by the Ghanaian Parliament’s passage of the so-called ‘Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill.’ This bill, if signed into law, would criminalize any person who identifies as LGBTQI+, as well as those who support the LGBTQI+ community.

Not only could this bill undermine the strong, longstanding U.S.-Ghana relationship, it could also adversely impact public health programs in the country, future economic investment, and Ghana’s reputation as a leader on human rights in the region. I strongly urge the Government of Ghana to uphold the constitutional rights of all Ghanaians.”
