Kean Statement on 2024 NATO Summit

Statement

Date: July 9, 2024
Location: Washington, D.C.

As representatives and leaders from all 32 NATO alliance members gather here in Washington, DC, we honor our alliance’s steadfast commitment to preserving peace and prosperity across North America and Europe. As we celebrate NATO’s 75th anniversary, we reflect on these values and are reminded of the challenges we face today. Russia, China, Iran and North Korea are refining their instruments of repression to sow chaos and upend peace around the globe. Ukraine has become the tragic focal point of all their efforts. Russian soldiers use drones from Iran, artillery shells from North Korea, and missiles guided by Chinese semiconductors to terrorize the innocent people of Ukraine. As our adversaries unite against us, we must remain united against them. Today, NATO has never been stronger. It is incumbent upon us to accelerate this shared effort and double down on what will enable Ukraine to win this war. I look forward to this summit to continue the United States’ unwavering support and commitment to NATO now and for years to come.
