Air Force Contract Awarded to Boeing Co.

Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn.-3) today issued the following statement on the announcement that the U.S. Air Force awarded a contract to Boeing Co. to build the new fleet of combat search and rescue helicopters. Sikorsky Aircraft of Stratford, Connecticut was one of the three contenders for this contract.

"When the U.S. military wants the best equipment possible for our men and women in uniform, they award contracts to Sikorsky Aircraft. There is no better helicopter in the world. Sikorsky produced the Air Force's current fleet of combat search and rescue helicopters and should have been awarded the contract to produce the next fleet. With pending orders for over 100 Black Hawks and development of the CH-53K underway, Sikorsky will continue to have plenty of work next year."
