Terminating the Tax Code

U.S. Representative John Boozman (R-AR) affirmed his commitment to tax reform today by becoming an original cosponsor to the Tax Code Termination Act.

The legislation, to be offered by Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), would abolish the Internal Revenue Code by the end of the decade and require Congress to approve a new tax system that year.

"It is time we end the talk of reforming the tax code and get to actually doing something about it," Boozman said. "It is time get serious about tax reform, force the issue in Congress, and give Americans a simpler way.

"The current code is broken. It cannot be repaired. We must start fresh to lead to a fair result for all," Boozman continued.

"There will be many debates, with many ideas, on how we fix the tax-code," Boozman added. "Congress won't address this problem until we are forced to do so.

"Let's set a deadline so we can get to work"
